BIO
Robert Leach is a human nurse who transitioned into the veterinary field more than five years ago when he began working at a veterinary specialist centre and locum nurse at a small animal clinic. He has completed a Master of Veterinary Studies with a dissertation in advanced animal reproduction, assessing the development of porcine parthenogenic embryos exposed to the CRISPR gene-editing tool via electroporation. During volunteering travels to Zimbabwe and Malawi, Robert developed a passion for conservation and African wildlife and gained employment with the rehabilitation team at Lilongwe Wildlife Trust in Malawi. After working as assistant to the Animal Manager for a year, he began developing the new Enrichment Coordinator position at the trust from the ground up and trained a Malawian successor before ending his contract. Robert’s budding passion for conservation continues to evolve through the use of Instagram to advocate for wildlife species and promote awareness and education.
